October 2013 Photo Scavenger Hunt

Another month has passed...and I didn't get everything just the way I planned...but I had a lot of fun trying!

#1 - Something Yellow

#2 - Polka Dots

#3 Patriotic
This is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Freeman Park.

#4 - A Seat
I noticed this "seat" early this summer and thought I should take a picture of it...this scavenger hunt item gave me the boost I needed to crawl over the fence and make my way to a good vantage point.

#5 - Chips

#6 - Water
...with Canada Goose Butts...

#7 - Bird
This is not the best bird shot ever...but the fact it is a Red Tail Hawk eating a snake made me decide to use it...

#8 - A Mess
You can always count on a pair of Osprey for a messy nest...

#9 - A Group of Something
Here is a group of Cousins...we're only missing one!

#10 - A Bridge
This Pegram Truss Railroad Bridge near Ririe is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

#11 - Sports
It's HOCKEY TIME!!!

#12 - Onions
Definitely not what I had in mind but I never made it to the Farmers Market...

#13 - Weather
This wasn't supposed to happen but it made this weather shot possible...

#14 - Rust
Here's a Rusty Head Gate Thing (I don't know what this is called)

#15 - Halloween
This is the Halloween decoration in my office.

September 2013 Photo Scavenger Hunt

Seven months later...I'm back!!
My sister and I are starting a monthly photo scavenger hunt - which I'm having a lot of fun with. I've had some GREAT ideas...not that I've been able to follow through with many of them, but it's a start. Really fun to be packing my camera around with me again.
So here goes...

#1 - Abandoned Building
I'm not sure if this was a school or a church but I think it is sad that it's now part of a barnyard...

#2 - Stained Glass Window

#3 - Goldfish
Who knew there was a pond of Goldfish in the Idaho Falls Public Library...

#4 - Yarn

#5 - Playground Equipment
It's really hard to find "old school" playground equipment...

#6 - Library

#7 - Tombstone more than 100 years old
I found this in the old Japanese section of Rose Hill Cemetery. There were a few that looked older but they didn't have any writing that I could read.

#8 - Religious Symbol
The Madonna.

#9 - Statue
Weird I know...but he does guard a driveway near my house.

#10 - Something that makes you happy (not a person or a pet)
A good book and a Diet Coke from Sonic...almost heaven!

#11 - A Door

#12 - Reflection
Not really what I had in mind, but a reflection all the same.

#13 - Something out of place
I don't even know what to say...

#14 - Harvest
Again, not what I had in mind, but you can't be too picky if you wait too long!

#15 - Something you find interesting
Okay, so I find LOTS of things interesting. I had a hard time narrowing it down so forgive me for presenting you with three...

15 (a) - who puts a satellite dish that big on top of their house?????

15 (b) I have so many questions...Will his antler grow that way every year? Does he always have a headache from seeing that out of the corner of his eye all the time?? Do the other elk make fun of him??? Maybe it's a good thing he's captive...

#15 (c) How could this possibly happen????

Went out shooting with Rae today. Her first time using her new camera. Very exciting!
I was able to introduce her to a new bird - the Cedar Waxwing.

Sky Watch Wednesday

The clouds looked really cool South of our house tonight so I got a few shots.

I'm not really happy about these Windmills...I really loved the unobstructed view but we'll never enjoy it again. So far there are 4 completed and 4 more in progress and who knows how many in total.

I've also added a couple from our recent camping trip. The first is for Rae, because she suggested the shot (looking North(ish) from the top of Long Canyon.

And finally...Jaycee and Gary...such good buddies...and wasn't it nice of Gary to give us the "Peace" sign (heeheehee)

Going Back In Time...

Way back in February, Rae and I went to Arizona for a week to visit Mom and Dad. Now that it's nearly time to go again...I'm ready to post a few pictures from that trip.

On the way down we visited the Hoover Dam and the Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.

We had a lot of fun on the trip. We didn't see too many animals or birds, but I did get a few shots of this California Quail and this Turkey Vulture.

We also took a trip to Palm Canyon, where the only naturally growing Palm Trees in the State of Arizona grow. It was a bit of a hike but well worth it! (If you ever go, don't forget you need to be there around noon to have the best light on the trees.) Here are a few shots of that. The first is a shot of the Palm Trees, next a shot looking out across the Desert from the mouth of Palm Canyon.

We visited Quartzsite and the Hi Jolly Gravesite...Interesting Story...

And the London Bridge in Lake Havasu Arizona, where I got these shots of Mom and Dad and Rae on the "Telly"...

Enjoyed some beautiful sunsets...

Then on the way home, we visited the Valley of Fire in Nevada...Beautiful!!
