Day 31 - May 31, 2010

SHORT EAR
Wow, I've kept it up for a whole month! Saw several Short Eared Owls today but only one that agreed to a photo session.

Day 30 - May 30, 2010

HAWK
Went looking for Short Eared Owls this morning. Saw a couple but didn't get any shots, luckily ran across a couple of hawks that were cooperative.

Day 29 - May 29, 2010

DISMAL
You guessed it...we could not possibly have more than one nice day in a row. Here's the crab apple tree in our front yard shot through my rain soaked window.

Day 28 - May 28, 2010

SPRING
Worked on some macro shots tonight, here's a bee on a blossom in one of our apple trees.

Day 27 - May 27, 2010

DEAD END
I had nothing today...felt like I'd come to a dead end, then I spotted this scene and snapped a few pictures...

Day 26 - May 26, 2010

GRADUATION
Wow, what an emotional day! My "baby" graduated from high school. Here he is with the "Fixed Crew" and showing the VERY appropriate t-shirt he decided to wear under his gown.

Day 25 - May 25, 2010

MOTHER HEN
Worked on doing some Macro shots today and thought this one of some mother hen's in my front flower bed turned out okay.

Day 24 - May 24, 2010

SPRING???
Ugh...when will we have nice weather for more than one day??? This is the fresh snow on the hills behind my house today...

Day 23 - May 23, 2010

Dogs, dogs, dogs.
Couldn't decide which to post so I'll post them both...poor Gracie's bald bum and Good ol' Gus...Gotta love em!

Day 22 - May 22, 2010

May 22, 2010 - I drove into town and could hardly see for the blowing SNOW! It was like a nightmare blizzard. It didn't last long and I got this shot of the snow melting off our mail box when I got home. Snow on May 22 makes me question my loyalty to Idaho!

Day 21 - May 21, 2010

OUR PLACE
Messed around some with a 1.8 F-Stop...This is a sign that was made for Gary's dad that hangs on our shed.

Day 20 - May 20, 2010

MESSY
I was not inspired today...I snapped only this one photo of the inside of our garage. What a MESS!!

Day 19 - May 19, 2010

I DON'T KNOW
I've always wondered what this was...Maybe an old well that's been filled in with dirt? I have no idea but it looked pretty neat today so I snapped a photo.

Day 18 - may 18, 2010

CHUCK
My friend "Chuck"...after nearly running him over last week, I found him at home on his rock pile today...

May 17, 2010

Day 17 - May 17, 2010

Got this shot today of a neat pattern on the trunk of a tree in our yard that lost a large piece of bark this winter. Shot at 60mm 2.8

Day 16 - May 16, 2010

Today the Goldfinches were back, this time both male and female. Here's a shot of the female - they do not stay still so I feel pretty good about getting her not on the feeder.

Day 15 - May 15, 2010

Didn't have time to try for anything, snapped this shot of Molly in the back yard - and it's not even good, blurry, blown out, yuck! Will do better next time!

Day 14 - May 14, 2010

Finally had some goldfinches visit our yard. Here's the male - luckily not on the feeder. Had many shots that were blown out, this one turned out okay.

Day 13 - May 13, 2010

Found this robin at lunch, the light was pretty harsh but I think it came out okay.

Day 12 - May 12, 2010

Didn't find too much to photograph today, so I took this picture of all Grace's rocks I picked up off the lawn so that we could mow the lawn. What a crazy dog she is!

Day 11 - May 11, 2010

Went back to try to check on the injured owl, we weren't able to find her but did find her nest. It's really strange how it is just on the ground, seemingly unprotected.

Day 10 - May 10, 2010

Jen and I came across this injured Short Eared Owl today. She was beautiful and let us get quite close without being afraid. We called the Fish and Game and they said they would drive out and see what they could do for her.

Day 9 - May 9, 2010

Finally, all caught up...until tomorrow. Snuck in a few pics of Gary and Gus today. Maybe we shouldn't have gotten a pet that had so much white...there is a lot of him to blow out. This was my best effort from way across the yard before Gary noticed and made it clear I'd taken enough pictures that included him for one day.

Day 8 - May 8, 2010

This shot was Duel's vision - I really liked the idea and we had to work on it for quite awhile. Never thought I'd spend quite so much time kneeling and laying in an alley near the police station but since Duel loves the outcome I guess it was worth it...What we do for our kids! This was shot at 50 mm and F 22. Had to do quite a bit of photoshop work including burning which really scares me!

day 7 - May 7,2010

Duel graduates in just over 2 weeks, haven't taken any pictures as the weather has been so uncooperative. Tried a few "practice" shots in the yard tonight mostly messing around with a very low F-stop. I think this one turned out pretty well. We were going for the puck in focus and him out of focus but still recognizable. F 1.8, 50 mm.

Day 6 - May 6, 2010

My 22nd anniversary. Took a few hours off work, ran a few errands then headed to market lake. It was so windy there were white caps on the canals. Saw this Night Heron and got a few shots. F11, 500 mm, 400 ISO. Also got several shots of both owl parents and two babies in nest. Not the best as there are SO many branches surrounding them, but I still love to go see them, they are amazing birds.

Day 5 - May 5, 2010

Another day with no shots till late. Decided to continue with the "flash" theme. This time I was inside attempting to get a shot of a fairly shiny object (my makeup bag). Took about 50 shots, this one is the best but certainly not good. Still has quite a bit of blown out area...Much work to be done in this area!Add Image

Day 4 - May 4, 2010

Suddenly it was 10 pm and I hadn't taken a shot all day. Went outside with my flash and took a few shots of poor Gus. He cooperated fairly well and after several attempts I got this shot that I think looks pretty good. I did (after a few shots) remember to adjusted my white balance to flash.

May 3, 2010

May 3, 2010 - Day 3

This is not the best shot...however, I did get Gary to stop the car...

This is shot at 800 ISO 500mm zoom in the rain and about 30 mph winds (as you can see by the leaves on the tree hanging horizontally).

If only that branch weren't in front of Jr.'s face!

May 2, 2010 - Day 2

My second entry is a picture of our "herd". Taken with Nikon 18-55 lens, auto white balance and metored off calf's face. Still some blown out area on mother's face...needs work...

The Beginning - May 1, 2010

Today is the beginning of my "Project 365" - a picture a day for 365 days. My goal is to become a better photographer and more creative in the process. I wasn't really planning on working on the "creativity" so soon, but we had gail force winds, rain and snow today, so I had to go for something inside. This was taken with a 50mm 1.8 in aperture mode.
