Day 331 - March 27, 2011

VERY SAD...
I found this Red Tailed Hawk today. He sat in the field for a very long time before he flew. As I watched him I started to notice his injuries. One eye is either severely damaged or missing, his beak is also injured and there is at least one wound on his breast. I'm pretty sure he has been shot by a shotgun. It was probably the same person that shot the other hawk I recently found in the same area.
When this guy flew off he barely cleared the fence before landing again.
Sadly, he will probably not live much longer.

IFHL CHAMPS!!!
Today the boys, Liz and their team played in the IFHL Championship Game.
They won 7-5.
Here are a few shots from the game. First, Duel scoring the first goal of the game, then Ben fighting it out in front of the net. Then the team with their trophy and Ben and Duel with the trophy!
What a fun game to watch!! Thanks for all the memories boys!!!

FUNNY COWS
Today we did some yard work and then took a trailer load of branches out to the pit. The cows chased the truck all the way there and REALLY enjoyed munching on the branches...at least someone LOVES yard work!!!

KESTREL WITH PREY
This is NOT a good picture, but it is all I saw today. This Kestrel was in a good spot and had his lunch with him, but he was a bit too far away and the sky was completely white...oh well, sometimes you just have to take what you can get.

MY LUCKY DAY!!!!!!!!!
I thought I'd get nothing today...but then...the greatest drive home in the history of my life!!!! First I found this fairly cooperative pheasant...then I hit the mother load...saw a HUGE bird in a tree, stopped, turned around, and it was a GREAT GRAY OWL.
Oh my gosh, I can't believe it! I thought I'd never be lucky enough to see one of these again!!!

BALD EAGLE
So I finally find an eagle on a different and interesting perch and the sky is as white as his head...I cannot win!!!
Just imagine if the sky had been blue and I could have gotten the right exposure so his bald head showed up correctly...just imagine...

JAZZ vs. NUGGETS
Ben and I went to the Jazz game tonight. His favorite team was playing...the Nuggets. The Nuggets won!!! It was a good game and it was really fun to hang out with Ben for awhile. The only bad thing...I got home at 3:09 a.m. and had to get up at 7:00 a.m. for work...but it was still worth it!
I'm not sure about "The Bird Man"...maybe he's trying ot distract the other players with all his tattoo's...

A DUCK AND A PUCK
Today's ODC assignment is: Macro. I'm not sure this is really "macro" but it was pretty close up so my macro shot is this mallard from down by the river.
I also took a bunch of shots at the boys game tonight and caught this one of the puck right before it went into the net.

JUST STUFF
Today at lunch we found this random wheel standing all alone on top of a little hill and since we didn't find much else, it had to do.
Then, after I got home I decided to try a shot with "sun flare". I've been reading up on how to do it (all manual mode)and this is my first try. It is okay, but in my mind it was way better so I'll have to keep trying...

Today's daily shoot assignment is "Make a photo of something that is glowing". I tried several things I didn't like then saw this old lantern while I was outside with Gary. So, I put my own spin on the assignment and now it's "Glows no more"

People really don't like to pose for me...but Duel was home this weekend and I promised not to get his face. I really wanted to get this shot when he and his friends were leaving to go snow boarding...they were wearing CRAZY colors, but A) I didn't want to go outside and lay in the driveway too bad; and B)Duel may have disowned me if I'd asked his buddies to participate...
