What a Day...

Day 214 / Year 2
11.30.11
The boys have a game tonight, but work has been so crazy busy lately that I wanted to get this post done so that when I crawl in bed tonight (or in the morning actually - we should get home around 12:30 a.m.) I can at least feel good about being caught up on ONE thing in my life.

So this morning the weather man said it WOULD NOT snow here today...but when I ventured out for lunch today for the first time in a long time I had to scape a few inches of snow off my car. Hmmmmm...

On the way home I was contemplating new career options and decided, after a brief comparison, the best job on earth would probably be a meteorologist...here's why:

On a Daily Basis I deal with:
Stress
'Fires' to put out
People who think their issue is the ONLY issue
Detailed Research
NO room for error/ can NOT afford to make mistakes
Need to work 10+ hours a day to keep up
Everyone thinks I made the wrong decision
Most people I deal with curse my name

As far as I can see, the only common denominator between my job and a Meteorologist is that everyone curses their name...

I say...NO PROBLEMO...I could do that!

Okay...enough...I do love my job and I don't want to be a Meterologist...and here is a shot of the snow covered park this afternoon.

Cute Snowman

Thanksgiving Fun

Day 208 / Year 2
11.24.11
Mom had a bunch of Minute to Win It games for everyone to play after dinner. Funny, even as young adults, the games kept the kids entertained for hours. Their favorite was the pencil bounce...and Duel finally did stack three golf balls.
I'm also including a Gold Finch from Dad's feeder since I haven't had a bird for so long.

Thanksgiving Pies

Day 207 / Year 2
11.23.11
I made a couple of pies for Thanksgiving and here they are...Cranberry Apple and Grandma's Lemon Meringue.

Refrigerated Water Bowl

Day 206 / Year 2
11.22.11
This ice chunk came out of the dogs water bowl. It landed perfectly upside down with water still in it to drink. Too bad this refrigerated water bowl can't be available in July.

No Shave November

Day 205 / Year 2
11.21.11
The boys came to town today for their game and Duel looks terrible...he tells me it is "No Shave November"...I say thank goodness it's almost over...that neck hair has got to go!!!
I'm also including a shot of Ben trying a backwards, between the legs shot...it almost went in and it looked pretty fancy!

Sister City

Day 187 / Year 2
11.03.11
THIS DAY IS OUT OF ORDER...
I missed putting this day in because I was so far behind. I don't know a way to get it to the right spot without deleting 9 days and re-doing them.
So...it is out of order...oopsy!
This is a statue in the Sister City Garden near the river in Idaho Falls.

Day 194 / Year 2

This didn't turn out as cool as it was in my mind, but I don't have anything else so here you go. The nearly full moon in front of me and the sunset in my rear view mirror...

I took advantage of his hard work and got a few shots.

Impossible!!!

Day 175 / Year 2
10.22.11
We went for a drive today and stopped to let the dogs play in Palisades Reservoir.
Before we left I asked Gary to help me get them all lined up for a picture.
We found that it was impossible.
Gus snubbed us because we made him sit in a spot we chose and everyone else ran around like crazy people!
The first shot shows some of the mayhem and the second is Gus...still mad at us...

Water Tower

Day 174 / Year 2
10.21.11
Another attempt at a "Tattoo on Our Town".

Eagle Rock

Day 173 / Year 2
10.20.11
I was in a meeting recently with a gentleman from Venezuela and a few others. Apparently none of them were from Idaho Falls...
Somehow the conversation turned to the name "Idaho Falls" and someone commented on how lucky it was that there were "falls" here. I told them that the "falls" were man made and none of them knew that. I then told them that Idaho Falls was originally called "Eagle Rock". They asked why it was called Eagle Rock and I didn't know, so they started making jokes about how it was lucky someone didn't see a rock that looked like a cow or our town would have been "Cow Rock". After the meeting I decided I should find out why Idaho Falls was originally called Eagle Rock - and this is what I learned.
Our town became Eagle Rock in 1866. The name was derived from an isolated basalt island in the Snake River about 7 miles upstream that was, at the time, the nesting site for at least 20 Eagles.
So, I set out to find this island, Eagle Rock and take its picture.
So...here it is.

Tattoo on Our Town

Day 172 / Year 2
10.19.11
I thought I should try to win Jason Aldean Concert Tickets for Bart by submitting a photo to the "Tattoo on Our Town" photo contest. I thought this sign was a pretty good tattoo...but the judges did not...sorry Bart!
(The winning photo was a guardrail that had been hit by a car...)
