WHAT???
I wasn't too happy when the Daily Shoot assigned a shot for the second time this week...but I committed to do it for at least two weeks so...
Today’s Daily Shoot assignment is:
Make a photograph using hard light today. Feature the crisp and strong shadows as a major element of your photograph.
Found this bike in Duel's room. I really focused on the shadow of the spoke pattern in the back wheel. I think it turned out okay.

Day 273 - January 28, 2011

RED, RED, RED...and BLUE
Today's Daily Shoot assignment is:
Red hot? Red paint? Or something else? You decide.
My first thought was Ben's Candy Apple Red Mustang...but since it's stored for the winter and Gary didn't get around to getting it out for me...I had to take other measures. The first shot is the Red berries still clinging to our Japanese Bayberry Bushes along the driveway and the second, a Ruby Red Squirt.
The third shot is not Red and doesn't really fit...but we actually had a beautiful BLUE sky for a few short hours today so I had to document it!!

Took a picture of this sculpture that stands in front of the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho...who knew??

This was sort of fun...I got out my macro lens and got a shot of this shiny Diet Coke bottle. I really like how it turned out.

GRACIE AGAIN
Today's assignment is:
Make a photograph today that illustrates attraction. Pick whatever definition of the word you'd like.
I thought of many things but decided I'd try Gracie since she can hardly resist a good bone...now that it's over there were a few problems...1) if she blinked or looked away she really couldn't see the bone against the carpet so I'm not sure she's looking at it in this shot...2) now i think it's a better shot of "anticipation" than "attraction"...3)it's all I tried so...it is what it is...

GRACIE & HER SHADOW
Today’s Daily Shoot assignment is:
Use hard light that casts sharp distinct shadows in a photograph today.
I got home a bit early today and there was still some pretty strong light...I used it to get this shot of Grace and her shadow. I'm pretty happy...when I saw the Daily Shoot assignment today I was sure I'd have to use a flash in the house because there would be no sun...I was pleasantly surprised!!!

BEAUTIFUL
Today’s Daily Shoot assignment is:
Celebrate the pretty things in life. Make a photograph of the most beautiful thing you see today.
This is something I look at everyday and think how beautiful it is.
It is one of my most prized possessions - a gift from my mom. She is an amazing bead worker and made all these beautiful items.
I'm sure my picture doesn't even do it justice.

DAILY SHOOT & FROST
Today’s Daily Shoot assignment is:
Make a photo that features stripes of some sort today.
I thought this bit of snow fence would count as "stripes"...so here it is.
I also took some macro shots of the frost hanging on out bushes and trees. I think this one turned out okay...but I need to keep trying...

WILDLIFE & DUEL
I guess that's all wildlife right??? We found a few things to take pictures of today which was really a welcome change... I know there are some blurred branches in front of him but I thought the bunny was so cute I had to post him anyway. Then there is the owl...Just so you know, this is mating season for the Great Horned Owl and this shot was taken just before this normally friendly fellow swooped down for the attack so that we would get away from him and the wife...Owl attacks are SCARIER than you'd think!!! Then comes the fat little Flicker, I wish she'd have turned around...
And last but not least...The Daily Shoot assignment for 01/21/2011 is:
Take color out of the equation and make a monochromatic photograph today.
So here is Duel in B&W and no...that is not a beer...it's a tiny sparkling grape juice he got in his Christmas stocking!

BUBBLES
I saw a shot like this today and decided to try it. I think it turned out "okay" but I want to try again for better results.
It is shot with my macro lens. These are drops of oil floating in a bowl of water.
