Jaycee

Today Jaycee did her pulling in the 4-H fair. She got two First Place ribbons and one Second Place Ribbon. Great Job!!
Here is a shot of Cinnamon chillin' waiting to be hitched up and then one of Jaycee driving her in her first event. (She took First Place here).
Also got some shots of the hawks...brother number 1 is flying everywhere taking turns landing on the gravel piles and the nearby trees. Brother number 2 made it to a power pole and seemed to scared to move from there. Brother number 3 was in the next but I decided not to climb the fence for a shot.

Be Prepared!

Always, always, always be prepared. You need to take your camera everywhere. You never know when you'll see something really cool. If you get lazy and leave the camera home, you're almost guaranteed to see something you never see. That was the case today...left the camera at home and found out there was a bat on the side of the building at work. I did snap a picture with my phone...crazy thing, I had to get help because I didn't know how to work the dang camera!
Later, I got a few shots of an Osprey Family. Here's mama and baby and then a shot of Mama alone.

The Swainson Brothers and My Tree

I got some shots of two of the Swainson Brothers tonight. Little brother must have been taking a snooze in the nest...I wanted to wait for him to come out but Mama started getting upset so I came home.
I also took a few shots of my Cherry Tree. I love my Cherry tree, they don't taste very good but I love them anyway and...as you can see, so do the birds!

Girls and Their Toys

I risked life and limb tonight to try to get some more shots of the Swainson Hawk babies down the road. I've never been able to see how many there were before but now that they are getting bigger I discovered that there are three this year. No wonder the parents are so grumpy...they've been working hard to feed three little ones. Looks like they'll be learning to hunt soon though.

I went back to get some shots of the hawks today. I walked out into the field and tried to get some shots of they baby as he was hopping around the nest acting crazy. Then, as I approached the nest, from somewhere far away I heard Mama scream and he disappeared from view only peeking out occassionaly...I thought I'd wait him out until his parents landed on the power poles on either side of the nest and as you can see from the second photo...Mama was MAD so I decided to take my leave!
